Paintings of the Buildings, Scenery, Landscape, and Life of Richmond, VA and surrounding areas by Artist Natalie Gates
Natalie Colleen Gates creates paintings that depict the buildings and landscapes in Richmond, VA. She uses digital photography as a reference for much of her work, however she is not a Photorealist. Her influences are varied. They include Post-Impressionism, the Ashcan School and American Realism. Because of this, her work is both painterly and precise.
Natalie earned a BFA Cum Laude from VCU Painting and Printmaking, and studied at the Corcoran College of Art and Design. She has participated in juried art shows at Artworks Richmond, and Crossroads Art Center. She has also shown work at Robert Rentz Gallery.
When she is not painting, Natalie, enjoys walking in the Fan and Museum District, spending time at the river, camping, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and sharing meals with friends.
